abstract: In prior work we have investigated the
implementation options for several real time image processing
applications by a compact, low-power system based on a high dynamic
range CMOS image sensor with integrated preprocessing and a digital
post-processor. We investigated the tasks of overtake monitoring, eye
tracking as well as visual quality inspection, e.g., on-line width
measurement. We have implemented a CMOS linear sensor based on these
experiences. First samples are now available for measurement. In this
paper, we present the first application results achieved with our vision
chip in our laboratory. In the following step, an integration with a
standard microcontroller or DSP board in the camera body is envisioned
to achieve an application-specific intelligent camera.
