abstract: A Dual-Core DSP Based lane departure warning
system (LDWS) with a high dynamic range (HDR) CMOS camera is presented
in this paper. We developed the HDR camera with the image sensor
MT9V022, which has specifically been designed to support automotive
imaging needs. Image data is transmitted across the vehicle as serial
LVDS (low voltage differential signal) data, with reduced emissions and
drastically improved immunity to external interference. The DSP image
processor on LDWS works with operating frequency of 600MHz and the lane
marking detection speed can be more than 25 frames per second. The
presented fast adaptive lane detection algorithm is efficient and
robust. And the Time to Lane Cross (TLC) criterion is used to determine
when the vehicle is in danger of departing lane. The LDWS is equipped on
the test vehicle and has been successfully verified for hundreds of
kilometers on highway.
