abstract: Our study presents a novel Digital Miniature
Cathode Ray Magnetometer engineered to excel in key parameters crucial
for modern applications, notably the characterization of insertion
devices in light sources. Employing a charged particle beam and digital
imaging, this magnetometer overcomes limitations such as accuracy,
temperature sensitivity, and spatial resolution. The magnetometer’s core
operation involves a low-energy electron beam interacting with a
scintillator screen, captured by a CMOS sensor for precise magnetic
field mapping. Optimization efforts focus on parameters tailored for
specific applications, with particular attention to spatial resolution,
sensitivity, and temperature range. Prototype testing demonstrates its
viability, albeit with ongoing improvements required to meet stringent
sensitivity targets. Strategies for enhancement include advanced signal
processing techniques, exploration of alternative scintillator
materials, and integration of electrostatic deflecting plates. Future
developments, such as custom CMOS imagers and optical fiber bundles,
promise expanded applications in extreme environments and enhanced
robustness.Our research advances magnetic measurement technology,
offering promising avenues for scientific, medical, and industrial
domains. The Digital Miniature Cathode Ray Magnetometer stands as a
testament to ongoing innovation in measurement technologies, poised to
catalyze progress across various fields.
