abstract: In this paper, a system of the intra-body
communication (IBC) based on capacitive coupling is designed for
transmitting image data. The system comprises of a transmitter and a
receiver, which are powered by separate batteries to avoid short
grounding. The transmitter uses a complementary metal oxide
semiconductor (CMOS) sensor to capture images, an field-programmable
gate array (FPGA) is used to encode and modulate the image data, and the
data is coupled into the body by an IBC electrode at a lower power. The
receiver demodulates the data, then synchronize and decode the data by
the FPGA, and finally display the received image on a display. Our
experimental results demonstrate that the designed can transmit image
data via single body channel and handshake channel, which will lay a
foundation for the application of the IBC technology.
