abstract: This paper proposes a D8PSK quadrature
scheduled wake-up transmitter for video/image transmission in typical
wireless body area network medical applications. This design includes a
scheduled sleep/wake-up controller and a charge pump based
high-efficiency power management unit (PMU), and a quadrature
up-conversion transmitter. The scheduled sleep/wakeup scheme and power
management technique contribute to reduce the power consumption and
extend the life-time of a battery-supplied wireless sensor. This design
is fabricated in 65 nm CMOS technology, with a maximum output power of
$\mathbf{- 0. 5}$ dBm and an average power consumption of 57.7 uW. The
data rate for wake-up mode is 9 Mbps in D8PSK modulation scheme. The
achieved EVM is $2.81 \% \mathrm{rms}$ with an energy efficiency of
$0.61 \mathrm{~nJ} / \mathrm{bit}$.
